This unit is the workhorse of a home automation system, works well with low voltage equipment because it does not have the trickle charge feature of the standard X10 appliance units and this feature can make low voltage equipment pulse. Instead it has a button, which is probably more useful for switching appliances on, rather than the off/on process of standard X10.
